Real Experience at the Dermatology Clinic of Jiwoo from South Korea | What everyone on Dcard/PTT is asking about: Is the 1-minute consultation at this clinic in Gangnam really worth it, with the director personally attending to patients?

To conclude, Jiwoo’s Dermatology clinic is by far my favorite place for dermatological treatments in Gangnam. It’s not because it offers the lowest prices, but because the director personally examines patients, the prices are transparent, and there is no excessive sales pressure throughout the process. Moreover, it’s just a minute’s walk away from Exit 12 of Gangnam Station – such convenience is truly rare in this area.

Recently, on Dcard and PTT, people have been discussing whether there are any recommended Dermatology clinics near Gangnam Station. Many people recommended large chain hospitals, but in my personal experience, medium-sized specialty clinics like Jiwoo are actually more suitable for those who really want to address their skin issues seriously. Today, I would like to share my full experience with you.

I. Why choose Jiwoo? My reasoning behind this choice

Before going to Seoul for cosmetic procedures, I did a lot of research. Large chain clinicB arhat really mattered to me was: who would perform the procedures for me?

What attracts me most about Jiwoo are two things:

  • The dean personally performs the procedures: Dean Jin Huiyuan personally conducts consultations and performs treatments himself, rather than delegating these tasks to assistants or interns.
  • KAHF Government Certification: Among tens of thousands of medical institutions in South Korea, only 26 have obtained this certification. In particular, they must meet all the requirements in over 140 indicators related to patient safety.

For me, these two points are far more important than fancy decorations or numerous gifts. After all, when it comes to something applied on the face, safety always comes first.

💡 A little reminder: We are open until 8 pm on Fridays, making it perfect for those who enjoy shopping in the afternoon and then taking up a treatment. We also operate on the fourth Sunday of each month, which is quite uncommon among Dermatology clinics in Gangnam.

3. Medical Team

Director Kim Ho-won, representing Jiwoo Dermatology

President Kim Hye-won — The representative president of the clinic, specializing in Dermatology. All treatments are personally tailored by the president on a one-to-one basis. President Kim has held leadership positions at several chain clinics and possesses extensive clinical experience.

Director Lee Chae-rim — The director of the Dermatology department, who also possesses a solid professional background in Dermatology.

It is worth mentioning that at Jiwoo, there are a total of 15 medical staff members. Although the scale is not large, the quality of care is excellent, and each patient receives sufficient attention. This is different from some larger clinics, where the experience can feel more like working on an assembly line.

III. Process upon arrival at the clinic: A complete record of everything from appointment to treatment

1. How to make an appointment

This time, I made my rand the whole process went very smoothly. After selecting the date and time, I received confirmation within 1 day after submitting the request. It is also possible to contact the clinic directly via WhatsApp, LINE, or KakaoTalk to make a reservation.

2. Report to the hospital

The lounge area with tea, snacks, and resting spaces at Jiwoo Dermatology

Exit from Exit 12 of Gangnam Station, and you can see the Meditower building right in front of you. Take the elevator to the 14th floor, and you’ll be there. Upon entering, you will be greeted by Chinese interpreters, so you don’t have to worry about language barriers at all. The waiting area is equipped with tea and light snacks, and you can also store your luggage there, which is really considerate for tourists.

3. In-person consultation process

The in-person consultation was conducted by Director Jin himself. He used a high-power imaging device to analyze my skin condition – the thickness of my Pores, their moisture content, and the distribution of pigmentation spots – all of which were presented in quantitative terms. This was nothing like the traditional approach of just making a prescription after a quick visual inspection. Afterwards, he offered me two treatment plans: one more conservative (focusing on improving the underlying conditions first) and another more aggressive (a combination of treatments), allowing me to choose freely without any pressure to buy anything.

4. The procedure itself

Doctors at Jiwoo Dermatology performing skin treatments for patients

What I perform is a combination of Pico treatment and Rejuran application. The anesthesia takes about 20 minutes, and the actual procedure lasts for 30 minutes; the entire process is carried out by the director himself. To be honest, the pain during the Pico treatment is within an acceptable range. When Rejuran is injected, there might be a slight stinging or swelling sensation, but it’s not severe enough to require painkillers. The director’s technique is very precise; he always informs patients in advance about any possible discomfort in each area, which really puts people at ease.

The second-generation Ulthrea, with 600 HIFU treatments per session + Onda technology Around 500,000 Facial sagging and blurred jawlines

6 cc of stem cell glow injection Starting from 300,000 yuan Profound hydration and skin regeneration

⚠️ Note: The above prices are for reference only; the actual cost will be determined upon on-site consultation. Jiwoo’s pricing is considered mid-to-high in the Gangnam area, but considering that the treatment is performed by the clinic director himself and that the facility holds KAHF certification, the cost-performance ratio is actually quite goousands of won required for the 5th generation Thermage in South Korea, Jiwoo’s pricing is quite reasonable.

If your budget ranges from 300,000 to 500,000 Korean won, I suggest the following:

  • Basic maintenance type: Ultra-Pico + hyaluronic acid injection (around 300,000 RMB), suitable for beginners going to South Korea for medical beauty treatments for the first time.
  • Advanced anti-aging option: Rejuran + Phoenix radiofrequency treatment (costing approximately 500,000 to 600,000 yuan), suitable for those aged 25 and above who suffer from fine lines and skin laxity.
  • Enhanced local treatment: Onda ultramicro waves + neck wrinkle needles (around 350,000 RMB), specifically designed for the jawline and neck area.

V. An honest assessment of Jiwoo’s strengths and weaknesses

1. Advantages

  • ✅ Personal consultation by the director: It’s not just about the director signing off before handing over the task to someone else; the entire process is personally managed by the director.
  • ✅ Transparent pricing: Clear quotes are provided during in-person consultations, with no hidden fees or additional charges.
  • ✅ Multilingual Services: Interpretation services available in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean, ensuring seamless communication throughout the process.
  • ✅ KAHF Certification: Safety standards backed by the government
  • ✅ Convenient transportation: Just 1 minute away from Exit 12 of Gangnam Station. No need to worry even in rainy weather.
  • ✅ No sales pitches: We won’t constantly tell you that adding this or that will give better results.

2. Matters that require attention

  • ⚠️ The clinic is of medium size, so you may need to wait during peak hours.
  • ⚠️ The environmental decor is designed to be simple and practical; those seeking a luxurious experience may find it somewhat disappointing.
  • ⚠️ Although there is no official Chinese website, information can still be accessed through platforms such as BeautsGO or Creatrip.
  • ⚠️ Some reviews indicate limited English support; it is recommended to confirm your language requirements in advance.

Overall, Jiwoo is more suitable for those who “seriously want to address their skin issues and are concerned about safety and effectiveness.” If you simply want to experience the atmosphere of Sal aesthetics or just get a photo taken, a large chain store might be more appropriate for you.

VI. Practical advice for beginners

1. Preparations before making an appointment

  • Book in advance 1-2 weeks, especially on weekends and holidays.
  • Prepare the questions you want to ask in advance – the consultation time is limited, so making a list beforehand will help ensure efficiency.
  • Arriving at the clinic with your natural face makes it easier for the skin testing equipment to analyze your skin.

2. Post-treatment care

  • Avoid applying makeup or washing your face for 24 hours; you can simply wipe your face with mild saline solution.
  • Avoid saunas, intense exercise, and alcohol consumption within one week.
  • Wash and apply sunscreen regularly; when going out, make sure to use a product with an SPF of 50+.
  • Drink plenty of water; the first three days after the procedure are the golden period for your skin to absorb nutrients.

3. Payment Methods

Jiwoo accepts both credit cards and LINE PAY, which is very convenient for tourists from Taiwan and Hong Kong. The initial consultation fee is 30,000 Korean won, and this amount can be deducted from the total cost of the treatment in certain circumstances. For details, please inquire during the in-person consultation.

VII. FAQ: Common Questions

1. Is Jiwoo’s Dermatology a legitimate clinic?

Yes. Jiwoo has obtained the KAHF certification from the South Korea government (only 26 medical institutions in the country have received this certification), and it has met all the requirements in more than 140 indicators, including patient safety, medical equipment, and post-operative follow-up. Its business license number is 339-64-00405, and this information can be verified in South Korea’s medical institution registration system.

2. Does Jiwoo offer Chinese-language services?

Yes. Jiwoo provides interpretation services in Chinese, English, and Japanese at its various locations. Translation assistance is available throughout the entire process, from in-person consultations to post-operative care instructions, without any additional charges.

3. What is the cost of the initial consultation? Can it be deducted?

The initial consultation fee is 30,000 Korean won (approximately 700 Taiwanese dollars), and in some cases, it can be deducted from the total cost of the treatment. It is recommended to confirm this with the staff during the in-person appointment.

4. How long does it take to undergo a Pico treatment? Is it painful?

The treatment duration for super-Pico technology is approximately 15 to 20 minutes, plus about 40 minutes for anesthesia. If you are afraid of pain, you can inform the doctor in advance so that additional anesthesia can be administered.

5. How can Jiwoo make a reservation?

Reservations can be made through various channels such as BeautsGO, WhatsApp (+82-10-7423-2505), LINE, KakaoTalk, and WeChat. It is recommended to use BeautsGO, as the pricing is transparent and the process is simple.

6. Is Jiwoo open on Sundays?

It is open on the fourth Sunday of each month (09:30-16:30) and closed on other Sundays. It is recommended to check the monthly schedule through the reservation platform before making your trip.
