Real Review of Imageup Dermatology | A standalone building in Seocho, Seoul – 4.9 ratings but only two days off per week: 8 things to consider before making an appointment

This isn’t a sponsored post — it’s my own firsthand account of doing research on medical aesthetics in South Korea. I became curious about a Dermatology clinic that was only open four and a half days a week, so I went there in person from Sinsa Station. If you’re as intrigued as I am by clinics that manage to cut their operating hours in half yet still maintain high ratings, this article should provide some useful insights for you.

I’ll start by explaining why I came across Imageup Clinic’s Dermatology department, then share 8 key observations I made during my visit. This is purely based on my personal experience and does not constitute any medical advice or recommendation.

Why did I notice this Dermatology clinic that only has two days off per week?

To be honest, what scared me at first was their business hours. While most Dermatology clinics in South Korea close only on Sundays, Imageup even closes on Wednesdays. This is extremely rare in the highly competitive Gangnam area. I thought to myself, “They must either be struggling so badly that they can’t afford to stay open, or they’re really confident in their number of appointments.”

I checked out BeautsGO later and found it had a rating of 4.9. The reviews repeatedly mentioned keywords like “a truly impressive standalone building,” “the director doesn’t push hard for services,” “state-of-the-art equipment,” and “great results for lip treatments and facials.” That’s what convinced me to include it in my itinerary.

Actual visit to the clinic: The grandeur of the standalone building is truly impressive.

Exit No. 4 at Sinsa Station and walk along Dukgo-ro for about 5 minutes, after which you’ll see a standalone 4-story building with a sign reading “이미지업 Medical Group”. This kind of clinic that uses its own name for the building is quite rare in Gangnam, and it certainly gives people a sense of stability—implying that it’s not a short-term rental that might close down at any time.

Entrance to Imageup Dermatology

The entrance to the Dermatology department is right on the first floor—no need to take an elevator or search around in a commercial building. The waiting area inside isn’t fancy, but it’s spacious, with sofas, magazine racks, and product display cabinets neatly arranged. What really stood out to me was that there were original certification labels for various devices hanging on the walls, and genuine Thermage FLX probe boxes were displayed right at the counter.

Consultation process: The clinic director will listen first and won’t rush to push anything.

I had an appointment with Director Kim Sung-nam that day. Before the consultation, the Chinese-speaking coordinator helped me prepare a list of my requirements, translating the areas I wanted to improve into Korean. When the director arrived, he didn’t give me a price right away; instead, he first asked me how many days I would be in South Korea, what treatments I had done before, and what my biggest concerns were.

This aspect makes me feel more comfortable. Some clinics will show their price lists right from the first minute of the consultation, but at Imageup, they first clarify my needs before presenting two or three options for me to choose from. On that day, I wanted to understand the differences between the Ulthrea and Titanium Lifting, so the director used a pen to draw lines on my face to explain which layer is suitable for which treatment.

8 Things to Keep in Mind Before Booking

Focus Point 1|Two days off per week – avoid scheduling trips on Wednesdays and Sundays

This is the most common mistake people make. Imageup is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. If your appointment falls on a Wednesday, it’s recommended to check in advance on BeautsGO to see if there are available slots, or consider scheduling at another clinic instead.

Focus Point 2|Single-family building, but not located in the busiest shopping area nearby

The clinic is located on Dugok-ro in Seocho-gu, not in a cluster like Sinnonhyeon or Cheongdam. The advantage is that it’s quiet and not crowded; the downside is that there aren’t many places to explore nearby, so it’s recommended to schedule a separate day for visiting this area.

Focus Point 3|There are three directors—make sure to specify which one when booking

President Kim Sung-nam, President Kwon Du-hyun, and President Kwook Roo-chan each have their own areas of expertise. President Kwook has received many positive reviews for his injection-based contouring and device-assisted anti-aging treatments, and his schedule is quite full, so it’s recommended to book at least 1–2 weeks in advance.

Focus Point 4|Authentic Equipment Certification & Portable Probes

The clinic claims to use original equipment and probes, and patients can take home the Thermage probe after the treatment. When consulting, be sure to ask to verify the equipment serial number and probe packaging—this is a basic safeguard for those investing in expensive devices.

Focus Point 5|The Chinese-speaking clinic director will accompany you during the consultation, but it’s recommended to prepare a list of questions first

There was a Chinese translator present, but the clinic director had limited time. Before I went, I wrote down 5 questions I wanted to ask in a memo, which made the consultation much more efficient than trying to think of them on the spot.

Focus Point 6|Comprehensive range of services, with clear separation between injection and device treatments

Imageup isn’t just a Dermatology clinic — it also offers plastic surgery services and a maternity center. If you’re looking to undergo skin care treatments alone, be sure to confirm when making an appointment that you’re scheduling an appointment with the “Dermatology” department, so as not to end up on the wrong floor.

Focus Point 7|Mid-to-high price range, but frequent package deals available

While the price per service isn’t the cheapest, BeautsGO occasionally offers package deals such as “American ultrasound + Rejuran + facial mask.” It’s recommended to check the platform’s current promotions before heading there to discuss pricing in person.

Focus Point 8|The post-operative recovery area is on the 4th floor, with a private space

One of the advantages of a standalone building is its clear layout: Dermatology is on the 1st floor, the consultation center on the 2nd, the examination/surgery rooms on the 3rd, and the post-procedure recovery area on the 4th. After undergoing procedures that require rest, you can head straight upstairs without having to crowd with other patients.

Who is a good candidate for Imageup? Who might want to reconsider?

Suitable I might need to think about it again.
Those who value hospital size and stability Those whose travel dates happen to fall on Wednesday or Sunday
Those who want to undergo treatments using devices like the Ulthrea and Thermage Those who prefer the bustling shopping areas in Cheongdam/Apgujeong
Those who hope to get a consultation directly from the clinic director and don’t want to be sent away by nurses Those who only care about the lowest price promotion and don’t pay attention to the doctor’s qualifications
Those who need the Chinese department head to accompany them throughout the process For those who prefer to get the treatment on the spot without needing to book in advance

My honest conclusion

If you ask me, “How’s the Imageup Dermatology?” I’d say it’s a well-established clinic with a very distinct style—one that doesn’t rely on low-price promotions to attract patients, but instead stands out thanks to its standalone building, expert leadership team, and top-notch equipment. For those visiting for the first time or considering non-surgical anti-aging treatments, the transparency and spacious atmosphere here make people feel quite at ease.

But I must also remind you: it has unusual business hours, its prices aren’t exactly affordable, and popular doctors are always fully booked. If any of these three factors aren’t acceptable to you, there are many other options in Gangnam.
