Why write this article

Last month, I went to Busan with my best friend. She said she wanted to get a Thermage treatment and asked me where it would be reliable to do. I’ve lived in Seoul for several years and am pretty familiar with the clinics in Gangnam, but as for Busan… to be honest, I hadn’t really done any research on it before.

I later checked Naver reviews, asked junior students who were studying in Busan, and browsed several South Korea-based medical aesthetics forums. Eventually, I settled on Wannabe Dermatology located in the Centum City shopping area of Haeundae (워너비의원 / Wannabe Clinic).

Why choose it? Three reasons—

✅ Personal consultation by the director – no assembly-line approach All micro-surgery injections are performed personally by the clinic director, rather than being handed over to department heads or nurses. During the consultation, they will take the time to explain which procedures aren’t suitable for you.
✅ Transparent pricing with no hidden tricks The official website shows clear pricing—same price for Chinese and Korean customers, with no extra charge for foreigners. There’s no pressure to buy during the consultation; if you don’t want to proceed, that’s fine.
✅ Extremely convenient location Located at the heart of Centum City, it’s just a 3-minute walk from Centum Station on Subway Line 2. After your skincare treatment, you can easily head to Haeundae Beach to enjoy some sashimi — perfect!

In this article, I’ve compiled all the real prices I could find, my personal experience from visiting the place, and the pitfalls you should be aware of. No exaggeration or bias—just a first-person account for you to decide for yourself whether it’s worth making the trip.

How much more can you save compared to Seoul?

This is the part that interests me the most. Many people assume that “Seoul equals the pinnacle of cosmetic surgery prices in South Korea,” but in reality, prices in Busan are generally 20%–30% lower than those in Gangnam, Seoul, yet the quality of equipment and doctors is often just as good.

Let’s take a look at several commonly performed procedures for direct comparison (average price at mid-tier clinics in Gangnam, Seoul vs. reference price at Wannabe):

Project Average Price in Gangnam, Seoul Wannabe reference price Price difference
Basic Glow Serum ₩100,000–150,000 Starting from ₩80,000 Save 20–47%
Rejuran PN ₩350,000–400,000 Starting from ₩280,000 Save 20–30%
Inmode Fx+Forma ₩450,000–550,000 Starting from ₩390,000 Save 13–29%
Juvelook ₩150,000–200,000 Starting from ₩120,000 Save 20–40%

If you’re already planning to visit Busan for tourism—to check out Haeundae Beach, Gangchon Cultural Village, Jagalchi Market, and more—why not take the opportunity to get some skin care treatments as well? Since you’ve already spent money on flights and accommodation, saving a bit on cosmetic treatments is definitely worth it.

But it’s important to clarify—low price doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for you. The following factors will influence whether you should choose it in the end.

5 Factors That Affect Prices

For the same procedure, if you go to someone else to have it done, the price can be completely different. It’s not arbitrary pricing — several factors are at play here:

🔸 Treatment Areas There can be a significant price difference between “full-face” treatments and “localized” treatments (such as under the eyes or Nasolabial Fold Correction). For Thermage, the full-face treatment costs 600 units, while the localized version costs 300 units — nearly double the number of units, which results in a price difference of almost twice as well.
🔸 Doctor’s Qualifications There can be a difference in pricing between quotes from the representative director and regular practicing doctors. Wannabe’s advantage lies in the fact that all injection procedures are performed personally by the director, eliminating the issue of “being upgraded to a senior doctor and facing higher charges.”
🔸 Skin Condition Severe pigmentation or scarring may require multiple treatments, which naturally results in higher overall costs. However, reputable clinics will inform you of the approximate number of sessions needed during the consultation, and they won’t raise the price halfway through.
🔸 Is it a bundled package? The cost of Thermage alone is ₩XXX, but opting for the package that includes Thermage, hyaluronic acid treatment, and post-procedure repair mask usually saves 10–15% compared to buying them separately. Wannabe’s combo packages generally offer great value for money.
🔸 Seasons and Events During the peak seasons for Dermatology in South Korea—spring and autumn—special promotions offering discounts on CDU treatments are occasionally held. Even during the off-peak periods, such as midsummer or deep winter, limited package deals may be available. Following the official WeChat account or the BeuatsGO page will ensure you get the most accurate information.

Tips to Avoid Pitfalls (Only shared after experiencing them)

I’ve been to so many Dermatology clinics in South Korea, and I’ve really stumbled into some pitfalls. While the following points aren’t specifically about Wannabe, they’re still worth keeping in mind no matter which clinic you visit:

❌ Don’t be lured by the “lowest price.” Just because you
see something like “hyaluronic filler starting at ₩50,000,” don’t rush in—ask first: Is anesthesia included? What brand is the product? How many centum cores will be used? Many clinics use ultra-low prices to attract you in, then add extra fees once you get there.

❌ Don’t rush to pay during the in-person
consultation. The proper procedure is: consultation → VISIA/skin analysis → plan explanation → quote → your decision. If they press you to use your card within just 10 minutes of the consultation, it’s wise to think it over first.

❌ Be wary of “special prices for foreigners” — South K
orea’s laws require medical institutions to display clear pricing and prohibit charging different rates based on nationality. If a clinic offers you a price that differs from what locals pay, head to another one right away.

❌ Make sure the product is genuine before the p
rocedure. Reputable clinics will open the injection package in front of you so you can check the expiration date and batch number. Wannabe does this very well—all injection products are opened right in your presence, leaving no room for doubt.

The Interior of Wannabe Dermatology

What kind of clinic is the Wannabe?

After talking so much about prices, let’s take a look at what Wannabe is really like as a place.

Its purpose is clear: a high-end, private Dermatology clinic in Haeundae, Busan. It’s not one of those mass-produced clinics located in busy downtown areas with long queues of patients, but rather a small, premium practice tucked away inside an office building in the Centum City complex, where quality and privacy take precedence.

What struck me the most on my visit was how slowly the in-person consultation progressed—it wasn’t due to inefficiency, but rather because the doctor took the time to ask detailed questions: what treatments you’ve had before, if you have any allergy history, what skincare products you’re using currently, and what your main goals are for this treatment. One friend told me that she originally wanted to undergo a certain laser treatment, but the doctor stopped her right away—reason being that she had just finished an acid peel, and her skin barrier hadn’t recovered yet, so doing that treatment now would only cause worse results. In the end, she opted for a hyaluronic acid injection combined with skincare care, and the results were actually much better.

This approach of “not pushing you to buy something more expensive, but telling you what’s right for you to do right now” is, in my opinion, the key reason why it enjoys such consistent positive reviews.

Dr. Park Hee-jeong’s Team

The driving force behind Wannabe is its representative director, Park Hee-jeong. She holds a prominent position in the Busan Dermatology community:

  • 🎓 Master’s degree from the College of Medicine, Busan National University
  • 🏥 Former Deputy Director at Baro Hospital, former Deputy Director at J-Line Hospital (experience at large specialized medical institutions)
  • 📜 Full membership in five major associations: Korean Association of Aesthetic Plastic and Laser Medicine, Korean Association of Laser Dermatology and Hair Science, Korean Association of Obesity Studies, Korean Association of Aesthetic Medicine, and Korean Association of Fillers

They handle large volumes of procedures with great precision. Overall, it operates on a model of “each person taking charge of their own area, with clear professional division of labor.”

The Waiting Lounge at Wannabe Dermatology

My Real Visit Experience

Let’s talk about my honest impressions from the visit.

I arrived there a little after 3 p.m. that day. The receptionist spoke some basic English, but we mainly communicated through translation apps. After filling out the basic information, I waited for about 10 minutes before being taken to the consultation room to meet with the director.

The consultation room is completely private — once the door is closed, nothing outside can be heard. This is essential when discussing sensitive topics like nose filler or facial contouring. The director first checked my skin condition using a diagnostic device, then asked a series of questions: my regular skincare routine, any procedures I’ve had done before, whether I have a history of allergies, and what specific issue I’m hoping to address this time.

I mentioned that I wanted to know the differences between Thermage and Inmode. Instead of pushing the most expensive option right away, she explained in detail how each works, who it’s suitable for, how long the results last, and the differences in pain levels. Finally, she said something that really impressed me: “For your current skin condition, Inmode is actually sufficient; you can consider Thermage after you turn 35.”

— Proactively advising patients against more expensive treatments. This is truly rare in Dermatology clinics in South Korea.

In the end, I opted for a basic hyaluronic acid treatment combined with Inmode Forma treatment in targeted areas, with the entire procedure taking around 40 minutes. Throughout the treatment, the clinic director kept checking in with me to ensure the pain level and ONDO were comfortable. Afterward, a repairing mask was applied, and detailed instructions were given regarding care steps for the following week—such as avoiding exposure to sunlight, refraining from using acidic products, and staying well-hydrated.

It was already evening when I stepped out of the clinic. The lights around Centum City came on, so I took the chance to try the highly-rated sausages nearby. As I ate, I thought to myself — this trip was well worth it.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How much advance notice is needed to make a reservation for the first time?

A: For regular weekdays, booking 3–5 days in advance is usually sufficient. If you’d like to see a specific doctor or schedule an appointment on a weekend, it’s recommended to book at least 1–2 weeks ahead. During peak seasons (March–May and September–November), try to make your reservation as early as possible.

Q2: Can I apply if I don’t know Korean?

A: Yes. The clinic offers Chinese-language booking and consultation services via WeChat (xycheng2204), and basic Chinese support is also available during in-person visits. For more complex requests, it’s recommended to clarify everything through WeChat in advance.

Q3: Can you go out and have fun on the day after the procedure?

A: It depends on the treatment. After a basic hyaluronic acid treatment, the skin may turn slightly red but the redness fades within half an hour, allowing you to go out as usual. For laser treatments such as spot removal or hair removal, the skin becomes more sensitive, so it’s recommended to avoid sun exposure and makeup on the day of the procedure—ideally scheduling it for the last day of your trip.

Q4: What payment methods are accepted?

A: Cash and most credit cards are accepted. UnionPay cards issued in mainland China are partially usable; it’s recommended to carry a small amount of Korean cash just in case.

Q5: Are the prices really cheaper compared to Seoul?

A: The overall price is reduced by 20–30%, with a more noticeable difference especially for mid-range treatments like hyaluronic acid injections, Juvelook, and Inmode. However, the price gap for high-end procedures such as Thermage and HIFU is relatively smaller, given the high costs of the equipment and consumables involved.
