The idea of taking a trip to Jeju Island and taking some time for dermatology treatment had been circulating in my mind for at least half a year. But the problem was this: unlike Gangnam in Seoul, where there are numerous clinics concentrated in one area, Jeju Island offered limited options, and one could easily make a wrong choice if not careful. After doing a lot of research, I finally decided on the 4ever Dermatology clinic in Jeju Island. And once I visited it, I could only say one thing: if you want to undergo cosmetic treatments in Jeju Island, this clinic is definitely a reliable choice.

Why is it called “4ever”? There are really not many medical beauty services available on Jeju Island.

Let’s start with the current situation of medical aesthetics in Jeju Island: compared to Seoul, there are truly not many legitimate Dermatology clinics on Jeju Island. Most tourists visit Jeju Island mainly to enjoy the beach, taste black pork, and shop at duty-free stores; very few people go there specifically for medical aesthetic treatments. However, if you happen to be traveling to Jeju Island and want to take care of your skin at the same time, your options are somewhat limited.

“4ever” was the choice I made after conducting extensive research. The reason is quite simple:

  • It is a local South Korean chain brand with over 20 branches across the country – not one of those small clinics that only operate in tourist areas to target foreigners. Even locals in Jeju visit these stores, and this is a very important point.
  • The same price in China and Korea – this isn’t just empty rhetoric in a promotional brochure; it truly means that not a single cent is charged more. In the medical beauty industry, you understand how significant such a commitment really is.
  • Close to the airport – It’s very convenient to get here from Jeju International Airport; there’s no need to travel far to find a clinic in some remote location.
  • Full-service in Chinese – With Chinese interpreters available throughout the process, from consultations and treatments to post-operative guidance, communication is completely barrier-free.

The best thing is that it is right next to the Lotte Duty Free Shop, so you can easily stop by for some skin care treatments after shopping without having to worry about scheduling conflicts.

The real experience at the clinic: from making an appointment to the completion of the treatment

Step 1: Make an appointment

I simply made my reservation on BeautsGO – I selected the date and service I needed, and the entire process took just two minutes through the Chinese interface. There was no need to make international calls or add someone on KakaoTalk; I received confirmation within an hour. For those of us who are busy with other things back in China, this is definitely the most hassle-free way to proceed.

Step 2: Report to the hospital

As soon as you enter the place, someone will greet you in Chinese, so there’s no need to communicate through gestures at all. After filling out a basic health questionnaire (including information about allergies and medications taken), the receptionist even served me a cup of honey pomelo tea – such a small detail really makes people feel very comfortable, completely different from the cold and impersonal atmosphere of waiting in line for registration.

Step 3: In-person consultation

Director Yang Hunzhe used the VISIA skin analysis device to conduct a comprehensive evaluation, and the report was ready in about 10 minutes. To be honest, I had also undergone skin tests in China before, but the director at 4ever explained things in much more detail—not only telling me where the problems lay, but also explaining why they existed and how these issues were interconnected.

For example, he explained that the redness on my cheeks was not due to an allergy, but rather the dilation of capillaries caused by damaged skin barriers; the excessive oil production in the T-zone was not simply a matter of controlling oil secretion, but rather an abnormal level of sebaceous gland activity. He then advised me to repair my skin barriers first before addressing any issues related to pigmentation or Pores – the order must not be reversed, otherwise the effects would be reduced.

What really reassured me was his advice against choosing HIFU. I had originally planned to go for it, but he said that at my age, my skin still had sufficient elasticity, and the combination of HIFU and Rejuran offered a better cost-performance ratio. He suggested that I wait for two years before considering HIFU if necessary. This approach of genuinely trying to help me save money made me trust his professional judgment even more.

Step 4: Treatment

After confirming the treatment plan, I entered the treatment room. The entire process took approximately 50 minutes. First, 300 HIFU treatments were administered targeting the jawline and Apple Zone. Then, 2 centum cores of Rejuran were injected for overall facial rejuvenation. The level of discomfort during HIFU treatment varies from person to person; I felt a slight soreness near the jawbone, but it was completely tolerable. The director performing the Rejuran injection was very skilled, and the injection process was much quicker than when I had it done in China.

Step 5: Postoperative Care

After the treatment, the nurse provided me with a post-operative care kit, which included an ice compress mask and sunscreen, along with detailed instructions in Chinese. She specifically reminded me not to wash my face on that day, to avoid going to the beach within three days (due to the strong sea breeze and high salt content on Jeju Island, which could be harmful to my newly treated skin), and to pay attention to sun protection throughout the week. If I encountered any issues after returning home, I could also seek online consultation, which was really considerate of them.

A chain brand with over 20 branches across Korea – the Jeju branch is located near the airport, next to the Lotte Duty Free Shop, and offers services entirely in Chinese. Specializing in treatments such as HIFU, Thermage, Rejuran, and Onda cryolipolysis, multiple treatments are currently available at a maximum discount of 49% in May.

My actual results

On the day of the treatment, my face was a bit red and swollen, which is a normal reaction. By the next day, the redness had mostly subsided, and by the third day, I began to notice that my skin had become smoother and more delicate. A week later, the most noticeable change was that the lines around my jaw were much more distinct – it wasn’t just an illusion that something had changed; the difference was actually visible to others. The effect of Rejuran is more subtle; it improves the overall texture of the skin, making makeup apply much more smoothly and effectively, and it has largely solved the problem of makeup sticking to the skin.

Since I stayed on Jeju Island for 5 days, on the fourth day I went for a follow-up visit to let the director check on my recovery. He said that my recovery was going well and also gave me some suggestions for post-operative care. Such follow-up attention is really a great advantage when undergoing cosmetic procedures in a tourist destination – most clinics simply end their service after the procedure, but 4ever took the initiative to contact me again.

Some practical tips for those considering medical beauty treatments on Jeju Island

  • Make an appointment 3 to 5 days in advance – There are not many Dermatology clinics on Jeju Island, and 4ever is considered one of the best-reputed ones; spots are highly sought after during the peak season. The clinic is only open until 3 p.m. on Saturdays, so it is recommended to schedule appointments on weekdays if possible.
  • Going for a consultation without makeup – Just like in Seoul’s clinics, it is essential to see the actual condition of your skin during a consultation. If you really don’t want to go out without makeup, you can simply use their makeup removers to clean your face thoroughly after arriving at the store.
  • Bring cash – CDU offers additional discounts for cash payments. Although using a credit card is also possible, the discount amount varies. It is recommended to exchange RMB for South Korean won in advance.
  • It is advisable not to schedule beach activities immediately after treatment – the strong sea breeze, high salt content, and ultraviolet rays on Jeju Island can cause significant irritation to your newly treated skin. It is recommended to wait at least 2 days after the treatment before going to the beach.
  • Do not drive on the day of treatment. Some procedures may cause mild swelling or discomfort, and driving yourself may not be safe. Taxis are very convenient on Jeju Island; you can simply ask the clinic to arrange one for you.
  • Don’t be misled by the term “visa-free access” – Jeju Island’s visa-free policy is only valid for a period of 30 days. However, 4ever requires advance reservation; don’t wait until you arrive to think about it – plan your time in advance.

4ever Jeju Store vs Seoul Dermatology – How to Choose?

Many people ask me whether it is better to fly specifically to Seoul for cosmetic procedures or to take the opportunity to have them done while on Jeju Island. There is no standard answer to this question; it depends on your individual circumstances.

If you already have plans to visit Jeju Island and don’t want to make another trip to Seoul just for skin treatment, the 4ever Jeju branch is more than sufficient. The equipment there is on par with that in Seoul, the doctors are highly qualified, and the prices are even a bit lower than those at similar clinics in Seoul.

However, if medical aesthetics is your primary purpose and traveling is just an incidental aspect, then it is still recommended that you go to Seoul. Seoul offers an overwhelming number of options – Gangnam, Hongdae, Myeongdong… Each shopping district boasts over a dozen clinics, making it much easier to compare prices and choose the right treatments, with a greater range of treatment combinations available as well.

In simple terms: If tourism is the primary purpose and medical aesthetics are secondary, then choose Jeju 4ever; if medical aesthetics are the main focus and tourism is secondary, then choose Seoul. This is my most honest advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it necessary to make a reservation for the 4ever Jeju store?

A: It is highly recommended to make a reservation in advance. There are not many legitimate Dermatology clinics on Jeju Island, and the slots at 4ever, which have an excellent reputation, are always in high demand, especially on Saturdays. Making a reservation directly through BeautsGO is the most convenient way – confirmation is available within 1 hour, and there is no need to make international calls.

Q: Does 4ever charge foreigners more?

A: No. 4ever implements a policy of uniform pricing for both foreigners and South Koreans; the fees charged are exactly the same for both groups, with all prices clearly displayed and no hidden costs involved. Cash payments also come with additional discounts.

Q: What should I do if I don’t understand the language?

A: The 4ever Jeju branch provides Chinese translation services throughout the entire process – from registration at the front desk to the actual treatment and its completion. You can also communicate in advance via WeChat (foreverjeju4) or KakaoTalk (@포에버제주).

Q: Can I go to the beach on the same day after the treatment?

A: It is not recommended. The sea breeze on Jeju Island is strong and contains a high amount of salt, and the ultraviolet radiation is also intense. It is advisable to avoid activities by the sea for at least 2 days after undergoing treatments such as laser procedures or injections; for milder treatments, this period should be at least 1 day. It is better to schedule any beach trips before undergoing these treatments.

Q: What are the differences between the 4ever Jeju store and the Seoul store?

A: Both are directly operated by the same brand, and the standards for equipment and services are the same in both cases. The differences are as follows: The directors of the Jeju branch are Yang Hoon-jeol and Han Anna, while the directors of the Seoul branches vary; the Jeju branch is closed on Sundays, while some Seoul branches are open on Sundays; although the Jeju branch is smaller in size compared to the flagship Seoul branch, it is equipped with all the necessary facilities.

Q: Can I get a tax refund for medical beauty treatments on Jeju Island?

A: Some items are eligible for tax refunds; for specific details, please consult the front desk at the store. Don’t forget to bring your passport, as it will be required for the refund process. The airport tax-refund procedure is similar to that for in-store purchases; you can simply go to the designated counter to handle it.
