Is The Ippo Hospital in Sinsa worth a visit? I stopped by there one Saturday evening: open 24/7, treated by the president of Yonsei University, and able to get a comprehensive assessment of all 8 key areas at once.

For this trip to Seoul, I deliberately scheduled my medical beauty appointments for Saturday evening—since many Dermatology clinics are closed on weekends, leaving very little time to get treatments done. A friend recommended The Ippo Clinic at Sinsa Station, saying it’s “open year-round, staffed by the director in person, and offers transparent pricing,” making it very convenient for tourists. Before I left, I booked an appointment through BeautsGO, and after visiting the clinic, I put together this first-person guide covering all the details everyone wants to know.

Why did I notice it?

What worries me the most about medical aesthetics in South Korea isn’t the high cost, but rather being pressured into services. Online reviews of The Ippo consistently highlight a few key points: “The director doesn’t push hard,” “Prices are clearly displayed,” and “It’s open on Sundays.” Upon visiting, the waiting area might not be very large, but it’s clean and well-organized, with a beige and light pink interior design that doesn’t feel overwhelming. The consultation room is separate, so no one keeps coming in to interrupt during the consultation.

If you’re also comparing Dermatology clinics in the Gangnam and Sinsa areas, I’ve previously written detailed reviews such as my firsthand visit to Made U’s main clinic in Nonhyeon, Gold J’s same-price options for Korean and Chinese patients at its Seonnyeong branch, and the services offered by theliz under Director Kang Ji-hui. You can refer to these articles to find the best option for yourself.

My experience visiting the clinic (for those visiting for the first time)

  1. Before departure: Select your preferred time slot on BeautsGO and note “Need in Chinese”; the platform will pass this request on to the clinic.
  2. Arrival: Exit No. 5 at Sinsa Station, head straight ahead. Once you see the Zien Building, take the elevator up to the 3rd floor. There’s a partner pharmacy on the 1st floor where you can purchase prescriptions written by the clinic director directly.
  3. Check-in: The staff at the counter will confirm your name for the appointment, and you’ll first be asked to remove your makeup and fill out a brief questionnaire.
  4. In-person consultation: Dr. Kim Han-GYI came in to discuss my concerns personally. He first listened to what I needed before offering suggestions based on my skin condition. I asked about Nasolabial Fold Correction and Double Chin, and he presented two different treatment options, clearly indicating which one was “not really necessary at this stage.”
  5. Quotation and Treatment: The price list is printed right on the table, with all services, units, and dosages clearly listed; treatment only begins after the total amount is confirmed.
  6. Post-surgery: After the procedure, I applied ice packs in the dedicated care area along with LED therapy for soothing. The nurse gave me the instructions in Chinese, so I just went downstairs to stroll along the shaded walkway.

8 Things I Double-Check Before Making an Appointment

Focus Point 1 | Appointment System and Timing

The Ippo operates on a fully reservation-based system. Although it’s open year-round, the clinic controls the number of customers per day. Weekends, evenings (before 8:00 PM on Fridays), and holidays are usually fully booked, so I recommend making reservations at least 2–3 days in advance. If you show up without booking, there’s a high chance you’ll end up coming for nothing.

Focus Point 2|Don’t Get Traffic and Exits Wrong

According to official information, it’s about 162 meters from Exit 5 of Sinsa Station, with a walking distance of just 2–3 minutes. However, keep in mind that Exit 4 is under construction, so if your navigation leads you there, you’ll have to take an extra detour. Weekends are particularly busy on Linyindao Road, so it’s wise to allow an extra 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

Focus Point 3|In-person Consultation Levels and Costs

There are two types of in-person consultations available here: a consultation with the department head at ₩30,000, and a consultation with the designated director Kim Han-gye at ₩50,000. I chose the consultation with the director right away, as the cost can be fully deducted from subsequent treatments. If you just want to ask questions first without proceeding with any procedures, then this fee will be considered a consultation service charge, so keep that in mind.

Focus Point 4|Be Proactive in Noting Chinese Language Services

The clinic has a full-time Chinese-speaking supervisor, though they’re not available at all times. When I made my appointment through BeautsGO, I noted “need Chinese assistance,” and from registration, the consultation, to post-op instructions, I received help in Chinese throughout the process. If your Korean isn’t good, don’t skip this step. (Another clinic that also emphasizes direct consultations by the director and transparent pricing is led by Director Kang Ji-hye of theliz—worth considering as well.)

Focus Point 5 | Quotes are exclusive of tax – verify before checkout

The figures on the price list are exclusive of tax. In South Korea, a 10% tax is usually added to cosmetic procedures. The clinic will clearly state the total amount including tax when providing a quote, but I recommend asking again before signing the agreement whether the price includes or excludes tax, to avoid any surprises at checkout.

Focus Point 6|ONDA Body Shaping: The Key Differentiator

If your goal is to refine specific areas such as the Double Chin, flesh around the mouth, or inner arms, ONDA is The Ippo’s flagship treatment. It combines non-invasive microwave lipolysis with tightening effects—there are no open wounds after the procedure. However, it doesn’t aim to reduce weight but rather to tighten contours, so proper diet control and hydration are still necessary after treatment.

Focus Point 7|You can head to Lin Yindao right after the procedure, but don’t overexert yourself.

The clinic is located in the Sinsa-dong Yeumun-ro shopping area. After undergoing skin treatments or minimally invasive procedures, many people take the opportunity to grab a coffee or browse boutique shops. From my experience, if it’s a laser or hyaluronic acid treatment, you can go shopping as usual on the same day; however, for ONDA or filler treatments, it’s recommended to return to the hotel and rest for 1–2 hours to avoid crowded places and high temperatures.

Focus Point 8|Payment Methods and Parking Subsidies

The clinic accepts WeChat Pay, Alipay, as well as domestic and international credit cards, making it very convenient for overseas visitors. If arriving by car, there is a parking lot located behind the Eun Building (approximately 30 minutes at ₩3,000, with a daily limit of ₩50,000). A partial discount on parking fees may be available depending on your daily spending amount; details can be confirmed during your consultation.
