Why would I rather make the trip to this Dermatology clinic in Seongsu-dong than visit the famous shops in Gangnam? An in-depth review by the director of NEW LINE

NEW LINE Dermatology Environment

On this trip to Seoul, my friends all advised me, “Just go to Gangnam—there are the most comprehensive Dermatology clinics there.” But this time I chose a clinic located near Seongsu Station: NEW LINE Dermatology (뉴엘라인의원). The reason is simple—I didn’t want to wait in long lines at large chain clinics; instead, I wanted to find a local clinic where the director would actually examine me personally. After visiting several places, I’ve written down in detail the prices, procedures, and 5 key points worth noting, to serve as a reference for those who are also doing their research.

If you’d like to schedule a in-person consultation at NEW LINE as well, BeautsGO lets
you book directly with the director. All the information—including address, prices, and available services—is available in Chinese, so you don’t need to translate from the Korean website yourself.

Why Seongsu and not Gangnam?

In recent years, Seongsu has been dubbed “Seoul’s Brooklyn” — a neighborhood filled with cafes converted from old factories, designer boutiques, and a large crowd of young people. I originally came here to shop, but I also wanted to get a HIFU treatment to tighten my skin. The NEW LINE clinic that my friend recommended is located on the 5th floor at 26 Sangwon-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. It’s only about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Seongsu Station on Subway Line 2. After shopping, you just need to turn a corner to get there, making it much more convenient than heading straight to Gangnam.

The clinic isn’t huge, but it’s clean and well-organized. Upon entry, you get a free skin assessment first, after which the director personally reviews the results and suggests a treatment plan—this was really important to me, as I’ve had previous experiences at other clinics where nurses conducted the tests while the director only showed up briefly. NEW LINE operates under a single-director system, meaning Director Lee Eun-sil (a family medicine specialist and certified expert for multiple devices) handles all consultations personally, with Director Kim Hyun-joo serving as his partner. It’s definitely not one of those places with a dozen names listed but no real idea of who will actually be treating you.

Another reason I chose it is its friendliness toward foreigners: no booking fee, no consultation charge, free skin checks, and even Chinese translation services. When going to South Korea for medical aesthetics for the first time, one of the biggest concerns is communication barriers, and this feature eliminates half of that anxiety right away.

Visit in person: Here’s how the process works

Reservation: NEW LINE operates on a reservation basis, so it’s recommended to book a few days in advance. You can make reservations through BeautsGO, where you can also specify that a Chinese translation is needed. I went there on a Friday evening and happened to catch their evening service, which is very convenient for those who have plans during the day.

How to get there: Exit No. 4 at Seongsu Station and walk for about 5 minutes. The clinic is on the 5th floor, with elevators available directly. After confirming your appointment at the front desk, a Chinese-speaking clinic director will come to assist you. Filling out the forms and discussing your needs goes smoothly.

In-person consultation: You start with a free skin analysis, after which the clinic director personally reviews the results. I opted for HIFU tightening treatment, and the director explained to me on the spot where and why the treatments should be applied, rather than just listing available packages. This approach of explaining things first before proceeding is exactly what I really appreciate.

Treatment: All instruments are genuine original products, and the treatment area is confirmed right in front of me. Sedation is available (₩2.5 million), but for HIFU treatment, local anesthesia is sufficient—so you can go shopping right after the procedure without any issues.

Second half: The 5 key focuses I observed in these hospitals

Focus Point 1|Single Director System, Not a Chain Factory Model NEW LINE o
perates under a single director system, meaning Director Lee Eun-sil personally handles all consultations—unlike those chain clinics with a dozen names listed but no idea who actually performs the procedures. The advantage is clear accountability and consistent treatment plans; it’s ideal for those looking for someone to take care of them long-term.

Focus Point 2|Friendly to Foreigners: No reservation fee, no consultation fee, and Chinese translation available. Many clinics in
Seoul charge a reservation fee or consultation fee, but NEW LINE waives all three of these charges and even provides Chinese translation. For those visiting South Korea for medical aesthetics for the first time and worried about communication barriers, this feature can instantly reduce half of their anxiety.

Focus Point 3|Prices are listed publicly, but they’re not the “lowest prices” available. T
he Ulthrea comes in packages of 300 shots starting at ₩990,000; Thermage FLX offers 900 shots for ₩3.85 million; and Shurink provides 100 shots at ₩77,000. These are the starting prices advertised by the clinics, which are indeed cheaper than those at some top-tier salons in Gangnam, yet still not the lowest on the market. In my opinion, what these services offer is a great value thanks to “personal consultation by the clinic director” along with transparency, rather than just low prices.

Focus Point 4|What sets it apart is its combination of radiofrequency and HIFU treatments, with a co
mprehensive range of equipment. It offers both the Korean-style radiofrequency system Volnewmer, Shurink HIFU, the American Ulthrea HIFU device, and Corage 2.0, allowing for comprehensive anti-aging and tightening treatments under one roof. If you’re already planning to use a combination of radiofrequency and HIFU therapies, you can get everything you need here without having to refer to another clinic.

Key Point 5|Night appointments are available until 21:00 on Fridays, with no services on Sundays.
Be sure to check the business hours: Monday to Thursday from 11:00–20:00, Friday from 11:00–21:00 (night appointments), Saturday from 11:00–16:00. No appointments on Sundays or public holidays, with a lunch break from 14:00–15:00. Those who have meetings during the day should book Friday night appointments; if you want to get treated over the weekend, hurry and secure a spot on Saturday to avoid disappointment.

NEW LINE Details of the Dermatology Clinic

My honest take: Who is it suitable for? Who isn’t?

Ideal for those who want to be seen by the clinic director in person, dislike large-scale chain operations, value clear communication and transparent pricing, and happen to live in Seongsu or plan to shop there. If you’ve done your research and know roughly what treatment you need, this “explanation first, then treatment” approach will be very convenient for you.

Not suitable for those who only want the lowest price in all of Seoul or who must visit on Sundays. NEW LINE is closed on Sundays, and its focus is on “great value with treatment by the director” rather than being the cheapest option in Gangnam.

Quick tip: The price of advanced treatment packages may vary depending on the current month’s promotions, so be sure to double-check on BeautsGO before you go. Sedation for a comfortable experience costs 2.5 million won and is considered a special service; local anesthesia using radio waves or HIFU alone is sufficient, allowing you to go shopping right after the procedure without any issues.
