To be honest, I spent two weeks just scrolling through REDnote and Dcard to research nose surgeries. The more I read, the more anxious I became—some clinics claimed their results looked natural, while others said they gave a more dramatic look. Prices ranged from 30,000 to 300,000 New Taiwan Dollars, leaving me completely unsure who to trust.
Later, I simply flew to Seoul and visited 8 nose augmentation clinics in Gangnam District for in-person consultations. This article summarizes my notes from those visits, detailing each clinic’s director’s experience, specialty areas, actual prices, and repair policies, so you don’t have to go through the hassle I did. If you’re also preparing a comprehensive guide to getting medical beauty treatments in Korea, be sure to save this article.
I. Why are there so many nose augmentation clinics in Gangnam?
In the area from Gangnam Station to Sinsa Station, there are the highest concentration of plastic surgery clinics in the world—there are over 50 specialized rhinoplasty clinics alone. The advantage of such fierce competition is transparent pricing and rapid technological advancements, but the downside is that the quality varies greatly, with many clinics marketing themselves as having “top-tier doctors.”
My criteria for selecting these 8 clinics are quite simple: ① The procedure is performed personally by the clinic director, with no outsourcing; ② They have over 5 years of experience in rhinoplasty; ③ Genuine reviews can be found on BeautsGO; ④ They accept appointments from foreigners and offer Chinese-language services. Any clinic that doesn’t meet all these criteria gets ruled out.
This table is just a quick overview. Next, I’ll share my real experiences from in-person consultations with each clinic, covering both the pros and cons.
II. WILL Plastic Surgery – The Ultimate Choice for Natural Nose Enhancement
Dr. Wei Hengkun brings 20 years of specialized experience in rhinoplasty, focusing solely on nose procedures without offering other treatments. During our in-person consultation, he spent nearly 40 minutes reviewing my CT scans, providing detailed data on everything from the angle of the nasal bone to skin thickness and cartilage support—nothing short of a perfunctory suggestion like “just make it a bit higher.”
Advantages: Its natural look is its biggest selling point—there’s no awkward feeling that something has been artificially done after the procedure. A 3D simulation can be used before surgery to see the approximate outcome, and on the day of the operation, the chief surgeon performs the procedure personally, without delegating it to assistants.
Downsides: Appointment scheduling takes a long time — for my consultation, the earliest possible surgery date was two months away. Also, if you’re looking for that overly prominent and high “influencer nose” with a natural look, you might be disappointed, as he advises against going overboard with the alteration.
III. Gnghospita Plastic Surgery – The Gold Standard for Revision Rhinoplasty of Contracted Nose
If you’ve already had Revision rhinoplasty done more than once and are experiencing contraction (where the tip of the nose retracts upward and the nostrils become visible), GNGHospita is the clinic I’m most confident recommending after evaluating patients in person. Their director has specialized in Revision rhinoplasty for over a decade, handling especially those challenging cases of contraction that other clinics hesitate to take on.
What impressed me the most during my in-person consultation was their pre-surgery assessment process: they don’t just look at the external appearance, but also use endoscopy to examine the scar tissue and mucosal condition inside the nose, so as to determine whether ear cartilage can be used or if rib cartilage is necessary. Many clinics skip this step and only discover problems once the surgery begins.
Advantages: High success rate for Revision Surgery, extended post-operative follow-up period (three check-ups at 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year), and free redo if any issues arise during the Revision Surgery.
Disadvantages: The cost is relatively high, with complex Revision Surgery procedures potentially costing over NT$400,000. Additionally, scheduling for such surgeries takes longer—during my consultation, I was told to wait at least 3 months. If it’s your first time getting a nose procedure, there’s really no need to spend this much money.
IV. Banal Plastic Surgery – Direct care by the director + same price as in Korea and China
Banal was my final choice for a simple reason: Dr. Shin Seung-kyu performs the consultations and surgeries in person, without delegating them to assistants, and offers the same price to Koreans and foreigners without any tourist surcharge. This is actually quite rare in Gangnam—many clinics charge foreigners 20%-30% more.
During the in-person consultation, the director showed me his rhinoplasty cases from the past three years right on his iPad. Each case included details about the materials used, the surgical approach, and the recovery period. He also emphasized that if patients aren’t satisfied with the results of a Revision Surgery, they can have it redone free of charge—a promise that’s explicitly stated in the pre-operative consent form.
Another specialty of Banal is the combined eye and nose surgery. If you want to have both your eyes and nose corrected at the same time, it can be done in just one procedure, with recovery time counted only once. I had a Double eyelid surgery revision combined with a rhinoplasty, and the total cost was NT$230,000—saving me at least NT$50,000 compared to doing them separately. If you’ve already done your research on how to make appointments at Banal Plastic Surgery in South Korea, you’re likely familiar with this clinic.
V. JEWELRY Plastic Surgery – The Top Choice for Elegant Results
If you’re looking for that perfectly defined, IPCHEA-style nose that looks stunning in photos, JEWELRY is by far the best choice based on my in-person consultations. Their before-and-after photos are truly impressive—with smooth nasal contours and an exquisitely detailed tip.
Advantages: Consistent delivery of high-quality results in a luxurious style, a large number of successful cases, and a large hospital scale with strong capacity to handle patients.
Downsides: Its style is quite exaggerated, which might make it stand out too much when worn naturally in daily life. Additionally, due to its large scale, the consultation time with the director is relatively short—around 15 minutes—so you can’t have as in-depth a conversation as at WILL or Banal. If you’re looking for a more natural look, this isn’t the best choice.
VI. Apr-31 Plastic Surgery – The King of Value for Money
The price at Apr-31 is considered affordable in Gangnam District — you can start with a comprehensive nose surgery for just NT$69,000. During my consultation, I noticed that their clients are mainly students and young professionals.
Advantages: Low cost, quick scheduling (surgery can be arranged within just one week), and solid basic rhinoplasty skills.
Disadvantages: The in-person consultation time is short (around 10 minutes), most of the cases offered are basic designs, and there are few repair procedures. It might be a good option if you’re getting your nose done for the first time with a limited budget. However, for repair work or more complex customizations, it’s advisable to choose one of the other clinics instead.
When it comes to value for money, if you’re also interested in minor cosmetic treatments at Gangnam Dermatology, you might as well check it out—many clinics allow you to schedule a nose augmentation procedure along with skin care treatments at the same time.
VII. DA, VIEW, ID — Each with Its Own Unique Features
Let me briefly talk about the remaining three:
DA Plastic Surgery: Specializes in implant removal and Revision rhinoplasty. If your implants have shifted or become inflamed, DA has a well-established procedure for handling such cases. The prices are on the higher side.
VIEW Plastic Surgery: Specializing in InnoFit (custom nasal implant), it allows for the customization of the implant shape based on your facial data before surgery, theoretically ensuring a higher degree of fit. It’s ideal for those who have precise requirements regarding their nose shape.
ID Plastic Surgery: A large chain general hospital that offers a wide range of cosmetic procedures. Its advantages include its large scale, comprehensive equipment, and excellent Chinese-speaking customer service. However, nose augmentation isn’t their only specialty, and the surgeries may not necessarily be performed by the chief physician in person. If your needs go beyond just nose surgery—such as contouring as well—ID can handle it all in one go.
VIII. Side-by-side comparison of 8 hospitals — No need to struggle over which one to choose
My recommendation:
If you’ve come across plastic surgery ads while shopping in the Myeongdong area before, don’t be fooled by those flashy promotions—specialized clinics in Gangnam are the real places to get nose surgery. Additionally, if you want to learn more about genuine reviews of medical beauty clinics in South Korea, check out my previous articles on Elvia Dermatology and Hongdae Forena Dermatology. Although these are dermatology clinics rather than plastic surgery centers, their booking processes and important tips are generally the same.
IX. Booking Process — How It Works from the Consultation to Discharge
It’s recommended to stay in South Korea for at least 7–10 days, so you can go through the entire process—from a consultation to the surgery and finally thread removal. If time is truly limited, aim for at least 5 days (1 day for the consultation, 1 day for the surgery, 2 days for recovery, and 1 day for thread removal).
